So May was talking bollocks, as was Sajid Javid - who knew?

Judiciary 1 Patel 0

Thank fuck for the rule of law.

Let's hope the evil cunt Patel's appeal fails as well.

At least Begum should have the right to plead her case.

god, the Daily Mail must be WISHING they could blame 'Euro-Judges' for this. Perhaps they will blame it on the Labout Party

standard daily mail response when this all kicked off 'why should we pay for her to be shipped over 'ere and housed at out expense in cushy jail? Eh? Its Shania Law gone maaaaad'

reasoned response - because it turns out to be a lot cheaper than the cost to the poor ol taxpayer than letting her citizenship appeal work its way through our courts.

From the DM website:

"Tory MP Andrew Bridgen was left furious by today's ruling saying it risked a flood of jihadis returning. He told MailOnline: 'It opens the door for all her fellow jihadi brides to return to Britain - and potentially their terrorist partners too. Most Brits will rightly think that when you swear allegiance to another country that declares war on Britain, that you have given up all the rights and protections and privileges of your British citizenship. After today's ruling it appears you have not'.

Is his argument that IS was a country that formally declared war on the UK? If so, sorry but he is wrong.

The DM comments section is fabulous; I really liked this one:

"The law must be changed to allow removal of citizenship from terror suspects."

Note the word "suspects".

It's those tricky technical legal points that confuse the DM reader.
You know - justice, innocent until proven guilty, fair trial, the right to legal representation, being judged by your peers not some power crazed Minister.
Political correctness gone mad.

Yeah, but they are British rights for British people and she does not look like a British person to them.

A sad day for British 'Justice'.

Begum has had the admirably humane decision of the Court of Appeal overturned by the Supreme Court (ffs sake can we please stop fawning over America and stop copying them? It's like a fucking Cargo Cult). She will not be allowed to return to the UK to plead her case to have her citizenship reinstated in person.

A unanimous verdict. How morally bankrupt is a country that won't even allow a young woman to plead her case that leaving the UK aged 15 should not be an enforced one way trip to statelessness and a lifetime in a prison camp without trial?

Tough shit. She was responsible for her actions in the eyes of the law. Unless your bleeding heart wants the age of criminal responsibility raising too, to say...91?

She was a member of ISIL's 'morality police' and an active recruiter of other young women. By her own account among other things, she wasn't bothered by decapitated heads in a barrel, and reckons that the Manchester Arena suicide cunt's actions were 'justified'.

Anyway she's not stateless, she has Pakistani citizenship. Of course, Pakistan has the death penalty...
Carry on Tango, you're doing a fine job of fucking up TNP. Bravo!

Perhaps, if she'd had a change of heart whilst things were still going well for ISIS she may have a bit more credibility.
But her change of heart seemed to occur when it was all going bad. How convenient.

You make it sound like joining ISIS was like she'd drunk a bottle of White Lightning, smoked a joint, and fucked some scrofulous chav on the park swings. Like other 15 year olds.
She hasn't been refused access to plead her case because she left the UK (nice attempt at reductio ad absurdum there), she was refused because she left to join a bunch of murderous fanatics who she aided, who were sworn enemies of the UK, and who she defended when it came to committing appalling atrocities.
Bollocks to her. She threw her lot in with a band of death cultists, and did it willingly and in full realisation of the cruelty they were capable of. She turned her back on the UK and now we're accepting her choice - she can fuck off. She has no recourse to British justice because she is not British.

Any of which would have got her a damn good beheading by the murdering cunts she threw in her lot with.

Fuck her. Not literally though.

She was 15 - a child in British law.

Do you know a child cannot be held liable for contract for non-essentials in English law?

But apparently she can be for being allowed out of the country without adult supervision and then have her citizenship stripped from her.

The most deranged thing is the 'Supreme Court' said the Court of Appeal had got the law completely wrong - human rights do not trump the desire of a Home Secretary to 'protect' the country apparently.

FFS she was coming back under guard to plead her case in court against an authoritarian twat - Sajid Javid - who wanted to pretend he had big goolies to his hard Etonian mates in cabinet.

As for the rest - it doesn't matter a damn whether she is repentant or not - this is about the rule of law not being made the sex toy of a deranged politician.

I don't believe she has had her citizenship stripped, but that is not even the case under discussion.
This is about whether someone wrongly attacked under a flagrant breach of natural law and human rights has the right to put her case in person before the courts. If this case stands then you will have the Prime Minister, the Home Secretary and other idiot politicians standing as the judge and jury in any case mocked up as one involving 'national security'.

There aren't any good outcomes down that road.
