Bronie, why does me giving an honest and critical opinion — constructive criticism, to boot — about some dude’s kickstarter put Mike in a difficult position? The only possible way that could happen is that said dude with the kickstarter believes that no one should be allowed to publicly criticize his pet project and that Mike should suffer for that.

That’s not me putting Mike in a difficult position: it’s said dude with a kickstarter trying to force public opinion to go his way by coercing an editor.

Yes. This is how that drama generally goes:

Mac: “Hey, the sky is blue today.”

...and within 15 minutes:

Pricky: “Mac just made a racist comment against Smurfs.”

FrotherPriest: “Mac gave his opinion again. It’s always about him, the conceited prick.”

Bill 1: “Mac needs to be driven from the internet because he hates the color blue and is destroying Ultramarine sales.”

Bill 2: “Mac is drop casting Ultramarines!”

Pat (when he’s not logging in as yet another Bill): “Mac is responsible for me losing my job at GW by destroying the market for miniatures in the southern hemisphere through piracy and if I ever meet him I will kill him.”

Bill 1: “Mac stalks people by looking them up in the yellow pages!”

Bill 2: “If Michael Stocking doesn’t ban Mac from TWW for singlehandedly destroying wargaming, I will firebomb Michael’s house!”

...and so on. Usually within an hour or less of one another and all by anonymous pissers (with the exception of Pat, who’s just a pisser).

It’s easy to create drama when one has a bored-out-of-his-skull hobbit wanker and Bill Armintrout as personal sworn enemies. I’m glad I make your lives that much more amusing, gentlemen. Happy to be of service.

Didn’t this conversation go more like:

“Hey, I’ve designed these and plan on selling them.”

Mac: “These are so bad I wouldn’t buy them. I never buy anything, I just recast. But if I did buy things then I wouldn’t buy these.”

Poor guy got run off by someone who was never going to be a customer anyway, no matter how bad or nice his sculpts were.

You're just gaslighting the real issue. This is not about you giving your (unasked) critique of his product.
This is about you being an obnoxious cunt and thinking of only your own self-righteous opinion.

As you have rightly pointed out - he doesn't seem to have had sufficient donations to the kickstarter yet, and no one on the LAF thread has commented.
Both of those points should tell him what he needs to know - people aren't interested and the project isn't going anywhere.
But that's not enough for you though, is it? You have to have centre stage. You want some attention and think people should listen to you.
You could have done what the posters on LAF did to make the point - say nothing. You could have done what most most backers have done - not back it.
But, instead, just like Trump you have to centre stage, act like an obnoxious twat, and try to wrap it up as a virtue and just you doing the right thing. And like Trump you don't have the grace to admit you did wrong, you just keep digging in and make yourself look more and more stupid.

I see plenty of models online that I don’t like.
Almost every time I move on to find something I do like, it is a more positive experience all round.

If I find something that really annoys me so much I need to say so, I send a link of the offending thing to someone via e-mail or message so we can discuss it offline.

If I see something online I don’t like AND the poster asks for feedback and I feel I have anything to offer I will do so.
I will try to offer a way to improve it.

Sometimes I see something that is for my money pretty awesome but one small thing lets it down, I may on such occasions ask the OP if they mind my thoughts on how to make it even better.

I always try very hard not to make negative comments about someone’s craft and damage their income, which if they are like me they use to buy food for their families and pay bills.

Not having enough money for bills/food is bad enough without me saying their models are shit.
