I'm not normally one for anecdotal arguments but CNN has a guy being put on a ventilator knowing that the odds of survival are about 15% and instead of focusing on his likely last words with his wife, worrying about the cost of the procedure. Why can't the US recognize just how awful our health care system has become? There are some quality people and facilities but the US ranks 175th in access. Great system only if you're wealthy or your employer covers you, for the moment, but otherwise tough luck. There should not just be a recognition of the appalling inequity but a goddamn mob scene of outrage.
