The noise that "shut up and go away" is making would suggest he might have been thrown under the bus to save somebody else. If he is the leak, he really should just merge quietly into the background

Williamson (unmitigated arse though he is) still swears blind neither he nor any of his civil servants or staff did it (which is a far more ringing endorsement than most Tory Ministers are prepared to give anyone).

Meawhile May has never said she actually had any evidence he did it.'compelling evidence suggesting he did it' - what, he was in the room and admits talking to the Telegraph?

I know this usually means 'guilty as fuck' (I knew a senior RUC Special Branch officer who paid for much of his son's schooling thanks to conversations with Toby Harnden while the latter was at the Telegraph) but Williamson seems to have been pretty open about this - that may be evidence of stupidity rather than innocence of course.

But given the people around the table who have severe doubts about St T's desperation to keep the Chinese on board for the aftermath of a no deal Brexit, I suspect Williamson was simply the least popular boy in the class (that'll teach him to keep a Tarantula as a pet, bloody oik!).
