Chaosium to reprint RQ2!

Chaosium is going to reprint RQ2 and incorporate all known errata. Well, they can pretty much take my money right now. I still think it is the best version of the game.

We've been trying out Heroquest for the last couple of Glorantha weekends, but I'm not sure my players are very convinced by the rules, so I might well just say fuck all the newer versions and just go back to 2nd edition.

Fuck yeah!
That was the first ever role-playing game I bought. I went into the local shop to buy D&D (because that was the only RPG I'd heard of). But they were out of D&D. I had so psyched myself up to buy a RPG that I looked along the shelves for an alternative. I saw that cover with the woman fighting the lizard thingy, flicked through the book and saw everyone was in Greek style armour and...I bought it!
Bloody fantastic memories of our long-running RQ campaign at school.
I still have my knackered copy of RQ2, complete (or not, as the case may be) with mouse bitten holes. And just about all the original RQ2 supplements...

Problem with Heroquest is that it's too worthy. It misses the point of why people want to play role-laying games and tries too hard.

That is good news, sold my copy as I thought I'd never play it again after decades in the wilderness and then get invited to Duff's weekenders (insert your own sexual innuendo here). RQ always gave the feeling of an immense world that you'd never fully understand or know and that no matter how great your own adventure felt, it was a small cog in a bigger machine. I quite like that.

Heroquest was ok but there were a few of the combat rules I never got my head around.

Think I'd want the PDF this time around. Also, I might actually paint a figure or two.

I think the nostalgia thing is a powerful marketing tool.... What better way of parting middle aged care men from their cash, than tapping into our lost youth...

Fuck yeah! Bring it :D (though MRQ 2 skills groups, the way it manages experience and combat manoeuvres are all pretty sweet...)

@ Humph - you should cosy up to Roy and join us for a RQ weekend sometime...

I know, remember you saying, but he does seem a fan (who amongst us has a RQ ruler?)

One Ruler to rule them all,
One Ruler to find them.
One Ruler to bring them all together,
And in the darkness measure them.
