Post your views about what's on the telly-box (not about transvestites, unless it is a programme about transvestism, and even that is borderline unless there are also ladyboys).

TV recorders - freeview etc

Postby Skipp » Thu Jan 14, 2016 10:36 am

Anyone got any experience of freeview recorders with built in streaming capability (BBC Iplayer etc)?

Looking for a recommendation for a unit, with 1 TB disk space at a minimum...

What are you doing Dave?

I got one of the new Humax Freeview play boxes (1TB). Seems to work OK, the only slight pain is it hasn't got Netflix on it (coming in April evidently) but it does have uTube as well as iPlayer, 4OD etc, but I've got an Amazon Fire TV for Netflix/Amazon streaming.

The Humax has catchup integrated in the programme guide so you can just watch/record by flipping back and forth. I'd have a look at the reviews though, the interface is a bit clunky (stupid pictures of the shows instead nice clear text) but functional enough. Main thing is I don't have to pay Richard Branson or Rupert Murdoch any money to use it.
