Game of Thrones

Ok
I'm late to this.
Started watching at Christmas and I'm at the end of season 3. I have to say on the whole I'm enjoying it but I'm also left conflicted.
I've found the whole story line with the traitor with the lisp tedious. The young starks seem to meander around the countryside and miss meeting up with their other family members by minutes/hours obviously to make us feel more sorry for them. The fat lad above the wall should've died on multiple occasions (why didn't they eat him, seriously, the crows above the wall must have turned to cannibalism at some point).
The only thing I know for sure
If you're a good person don't bother with pension arrangements
If you're bad but slightly good make sure you know a good doctor
If you're bad through and through, you have nothing to worry about

There's lots of tit and minge as well, Steders.
Hope you didn't miss that.

Are you/we ready for the Big Game Of Thrones Discussion yet?
That's the one where you sit down and discuss which character you think you'd end up playing if GoT was a role-playing game. I always think I'd end up playing either Peter Baylish or...what's the name of the bald eunuch who controls all the spies? Him. I'd end up playing one of those two.
Although according to others they reckon I'd be more likely to play Davos the Onion Knight.

You're mostly right, but your last rule is broken in season 4 :)

The bit about the Stark kids wandering about is much worse in the books, on the whole the TV series has been edited down to much better effect and is now beginning to seriously depart from the books.

On the whole I think GoT is the best thing on TV*. and far superior to the other Sword and Crown epics that launched in its wake. The quality of the writing is outstanding and there were two/three moments in season 4 that genuinely made me gasp out loud, I really did not see them coming.

The bald eunuch is Varys and I think he's tailor-made for me - apart from the weight issues but I could manage a fat suit I'm sure. Even more fun is trying to determine the sides in the 'final' conflict - there's quite a few variables to juggle with.

*well DVD in my case. Eagerly awaiting season 5. No spoilers by request.

I think I'd be perfect for Daenerys.

Since I have only seen bits of it, I enjoy 'if it's loosely modelled on the WotR Then surely a rank outsider will be the final winner'? musings. So, who is the total rank outsider with vaguely noble blood who is very very unlikely to become the final ruler of notengland? mY BEST (I repeat, ill-informed) guess would be the blonde girl with the dragons. She is the best Henry Tudor Approximate I can see.

Feel free to wheel out your full GoT nerd-knowledge to shoot me down in flames now.

It is quite good fun, although in later seasons the entire 'story' seeems to consist of the characters wandering around on their own. I suppose with only ten episodes per season and a cast of dozens, you are only going to get half an hour per person...

Some of them are less annoying than others, but none of them need bother with pension plans.

I admire the logic but the reasoning is faulty. The blonde girl with the dragons is a Targareyn (note to editor, pls chck spelling) and therefore in WoTR terms is the granddaughter of Henry VI, so the bloodline isn't vague. Also she's pitched as the 'big threat' to not-England at present. I think she'll die in the last episode of the penultimate season. It's quite possible we haven't seen the 'Henry Tudor' yet and there's two maybe three possible 'Ricky the Third's' in play.
