Not seen it, not sure I want to, have never read the book and suspect this will be 'Tsarist Downton' or 'Call the Napoleonic Midwife & Prejudice' but I assume I will have to as my beloved is keen.

Anyone catch it? Opinions?

Yes. Been a long time since I (struggled to) read the book - looks spectacular and a top notch supporting cast.

Something that needs to be watched (rather than 'on in the background') - simply because of the huge number of characters. Especially as Ep 1 is, basically, an introduction to a lot of them.

Am told that it may disappoint the button-counters but who cares about them?

I enjoyed it.

I gave it half an eye. Tsarist Downton is apt, with battle scenes and pretty uniforms. Button counters can do one, it isn't about 'historical accuracy'.

The Anatole/Helene incest thing made an appearance early. The viewers love a bit of scandal doncha know.
The Cardinal of Cunt

I have never heard of Frothers Unite- UK!

I thought it was quite good for what it is, a telly drama on a telly budget.

I enjoyed it, nice to have a series I can watch with the wife as our televisual tastes rarely sync.

That's the trouble with 2H weapons in the living room.
