Jekyll and Hyde

Postby Sondergaard » Tue Nov 17, 2015 7:46 am

As this is on at 7 on a Sunday I didn't expect much but it's a great little show. Set in the 30's, it follows the trials and tribulations of Dr Jekyll's grandson who has inherited his grandfather's affliction (I assume the potion has affected his DNA or some similar handwavium).
Obviously constrained by it's time slot it stil manages some very unsettling moments, the Harbinger in particular. I just wish they'd dumped the attempt at a family show and gone for it both barrels.
I understand the complaints levelled at it about the violence and creepiness considering the time it's shown. I don't think my two moppets would be happy watching it and they're a pretty bloodthirsty pair.
Anyone interested in VSF, Empire of the Dead, In Her Majesty's Name, Call of Cthulhu etc should find much to enjoy here, with secret government departments, ancient cults, plucky sidekicks and a (probably) doomed hero.

Yeah, fair do's, I quite like it. Rather daft, don't-take-it-seriously stuff, but lots of 1930's pulpiness and derring-do to make it watchable.
'Neat, but not gaudy', said the baboon as he painted his arse lime green.

ITV in the Midlands as well, this might explain why Dozy's box miss-recorded :D

I went to watch episode 4, having missed the others, but it was replaced by some inane quiz show. I assumed watershed issues but it was cancelled in response to the Paris attacks. Gives me a chance to catch up.

That's what I got....assumed it might be something like that.......

ITV - Channel 4.....come on, easy mistake to make.....at least the box knew to record the right thing that wasn't on.

Sky has 1-3 on catch up and 5 set to record. Anyone know if they will show 4?
