Amazing what you learn about history off the telly

According to The Celts on BBC 2, Boudicca was a ginger crack whore. This hasn't been stated implicitly, I'm just going off the Emmy winning portrayal.

And I see that the Roman 'C' hasn't got any better since I was at school. It's always hard, like 'K' = Kaesar. Except when it's not = Sisero. Or Boudikka, queen of the Iseeni

I'm sure the Romans made the rules of Latin up as they went along, knowing that it would piss off future generations of schoolkids forced to try and make sense of the bollocks.

I like how she was fighting for "the entire Celtic world" rather than, you know, the riches she had taken from her.

Celtic heroine, or greedy and pissed off Roman citizen? Phone lines open after the break.

The psychological effect of Celtic swords? Yes, like most swords, they are very fucking scary when swung towards you. :loopy:

Are they really more scary when wielded by a bollock naked hairy bloke painted blue? I'd shit it if a hump backed one-legged midget came at me with a sword!

Psychological. Pah! :beard:

In context, a world of violent, bloody death are they scary though?

I did like the demonstration. A dead pig hanging from a tree isn't moving about, and isn't trying to kill you back. There's a subtle psychological difference when you start poking and cutting.

Him with his nancy Celtic sword and me with a katana, now. I might be a bit old and rusty, but I'd still bet on me. ;)

Uh oh, they're onto D&D druids now…

And the obligatory mention of "feasting". It's not an ancients doc without "feasting".
