Now wish someone would pick up the Winter King trilogy ... that would surely sell easily, it has King Arthur after all

I really liked the first book in 'The Winter King' but the third one was laughably rushed, he does seem to start stuff and then go 'meh, everyone died, the end.'

the problem all Arthur stories have is that Mallory weighs them down like a great crushing anchor, they have to have Guinevere's betrayal, lancelot's fall, Arthur well meaning but helpless.... it's always the same.

How about a 'Matter of Britain' where peaceful Saxon Refugees, struggling ashore from their leaky vessels with their children in their arms are massacred by the hidous, backward Britons under the evil Arthur. Only Lancelot, the honest, likeable warrior-hero stands between the helpless Saxian Migrants and the horrid Arthur Farrage and his Ukelts.

A likely story indeed.

Lancelot could rescue Guinevere from the abusive arranged marriage she was forced into, helped by his noble, courageous arab sidekick, Palamedes.

There's a case for a series from the viewpoint of the unjustly accused Mordred, a legitimate Welsh prince with a better claim to the throne than the tyrant Arthur but sadly traduced by the Annales Dailies Mailus despite being wildly popular amongst the English working class, who rightly see that with "Arthur was none other life but war and strife, and with Sir Mordred was great joy and bliss". A subplot detailing the love affair between Guinevere and Mordred, disrupted by the thug, Lancelot, would draw in the female audience and I'm sure the creation of an alternative Round Table in Cardiff would appeal to the fashionable nationalist audience (not to mention local chambers of commerce).

I didn't take this as 'important' (nor did I think it intended as such), but was worth a chuckle or two...

O like Lindybeige, he has a good one on slinging technique which is pretty much spot on.

I like that.

I got about three and a half episodes into the series before giving up. Did it get any better?
