Mordheim on a budget...?

I'm looking for mini suggestions for Mordheim.

I'm playing it on my PC, and been bitten - missed the game at the time, and looking at eBay - the brand is still strong, and costs are high... So I'm looking for suggestions for warband alternates...

Suggestions only need to be loosely tied to the background, but close enough to use official warband rules...

In my experience, many kitbash using available GW plastic kits, but plenty simply use models from other companies.

Which warband or warbands did you have in mind?

None of my group paint/collect models - so I'm looking for suggestions for most warband types from the game - my aim to put 6 warbands together

Frostgrave could be a good starting point?

Yup the frostgrave warband and cultist sets.

Then maybe fireforge for more armoured types. Hasslefree, Otherworld and others for better quality characters.

Mantic might be good for some alternatives.

Perry plastics for cheap quality troops.

LAF minis for the best alternatives around.

Frostgrave and Fireforge plastics would give you lots of options.

Cheap 90s fantasy metals like the old Grenadier stuff or Harlequin available from Black Tree Design would also be good. Particularly for the fantasy races.

Ok, so I realise that my 1st post was too broad - I knew about most of the suggestions, and I was looking for more specific suggestions...

after reading the coreheim open rules a little - I now know I'm looking for the following suggestions:

reiklander
middenheim
sisters of sigmar

(I have undead and skaven already)

I'm looking for suggestions - captains, champions, youngbloods and troops...

If you could point me at specific models or subranges Id appreciate it.

also - If you are at all interested in the game and know where non official warband creation lists can be found, that'd be great (I'm looking for dwarves, but also other warbands)

I recommend sculpting them yourself. With a pack of Green Stuff from Heresy Miniatures (£9), some brass wire from Hobby Craft (less than £5) and some sculpting tools (you can make these from old paintbrush handles so pretty cheap)... oh and a cork from your favourite bottle of cheap wine... you can sculpt a whole warband :)

There are also cardboard 'standees' out there...
