15mm allosaurs

We are very pleased to release our latest set of 15mm dinosaurs, and these are different lizards from what we have released before -- literally! Allosaurus means "different lizard." It was the largest predator of the late Jurassic Period in North America, and is a popular subject of many movies and documentaries.

Interestingly, there was a great deal of size variation between individuals, which may or may not have been simple size variation based on age or gender, or may indicate a different species or even a different genus. Accordingly, we have released a hunting pair of medium sized Allosaurs, in dynamic poses, and separately, a much larger animal in a reserve pose, which can be used as an alpha Allosaur, or as "Epanterias," which has been proposed as a different genus (but may have just been a really big Allosaur). We also have a set with all three animals, perhaps the two smaller models being like lionesses on a hunt, preparing a large prey subject for the killing blow that will be delivered by the much larger lion.

These are the first dinosaurs we have made that are not part of the Hell Creek biota, being instead from the Morrison Formation – the same time and place as many sauropods such as Brontosaurus, Apatosaurus, Brachiosaurus, and Camarasaurus. Stegosaurus also lived in the same biota, as did many other well known late Jurassic dinosaurs. If these Allosaurs are well received we will certainly make more Morrison Formation models.
