Nick Bibby Asgard Dragon interest

Postby CrumbReaper » Fri Jan 19, 2018 9:33 am

Hi, I'm on a Facebook forum for Asgard Miniatures, now owned by Viking Forge in the USA and they would
do a re-run of Nick Bibby's fantastic dragon if there is enough solid interest.

Price is estimated around the US$100 mark plus shipping and casting would be white metal, I know not
everybody does facebook so thought I'd post here to see if anyone is interested

Has someone stuck Green Stuff blobs on that dragon or is that the way it has been painted? If it's been painted like that, it isn't the best way to encourage people to get on board with a Kickstarter because those scales look quite amateurish to me. There are definitely much better dragons on the market that look much more accomplished... especially for $100

just the way that one has been painted, they do look like blobs of greenstuff mind!

this was originally released in the 1980's so it's purely nostalgia trip on this piece, totally agree on modern releases
but they don't tick the "couldn't afford it when it was out" box or the "why the balls did I sell mine??" box. I'm stupid
enough to have owned one and sold it along with a spined dragon :loopy:

different paint job

It looks better in the second pic... but I still stick with what I said.

My nostalgia isn't for dragons... it's for giant robots... so I guess it's horses for courses :)

totally agree, I don't think there will be enough interest for this to happen but worth an ask around, I've been rewatching a lot of the older anime
stuff recently and had a fair few kits back in the day of Gundam, Five Star Stories etc all built painted sold on but not missed the same way as some
of the wargaming stuff............. although I got a lot of the Asgard stuff from Viking Forge and that ended up on Ebay after 18 months of wondering
what to do with it once painted

He's come along a way, hasn't he? :o

I like it, in a sort of 'nostalgia' way, but I don't think it's worth it for that price.

(As an aside I just found out that Nick sculpted a couple of my favourite Citadel dragons, including the old 'toad dragon', which is one of my favourite dragons ever)

the work Nick Bibby is doing now is breath taking, I contacted him a while back and asked if he would consider a resin run of his dragon he recently did as the bronze is
way out of my price bracket but I'd love one to paint!! No joy so far.........

the Dragon Toad was a lovely piece, used to sculpt little fungi growing on it's tongue and then put Snotlings on the base trying to grab them off. Built and painted and sold
a lot of those back in the days when you thought a miniature would be available for ever
