selwg show 2014

Postby thehive nli » Sun Sep 21, 2014 10:36 am

Hi, I saw on the selwg website that their show is on in a few weeks time, it's not that far from me so I'm interested.
I've seen nothing about it on any other sites this year.
Is it worth going to?

Of course it is (I'm a member of SELWG so I should say that) I'll be stuck on the bring and buy most of the day, but always try and escape for a browse at some point - it's my birthday shortly after so I'll be spending that at the show :)

Yes, it's worth it (I'm not a member of SELWG :) ). Large enough to sustain interest for most of the day, plenty of traders to loosen your wallet. Although if you're allegic to chlorine, take your medicine beforehand.

I'll be there with my club as always. If you're nearby then definitely pop along for an hour or few of gaming delights.

Yeah, it's a good show that always has a good spread of traders.

Gets a bit hot and humid, what with the swimming pool and all.

I should be there this year. I'll have to make sure I pack my tidy blue Speedos for a lunch time dip, if anyone else is interested?

Used to be my favourite show. Good mix of traders and games. Haven't been for a few years mind you....

SELWG is a lot like Salute, about one third of the size. Just as easy to get to from most places, but slightly further out of central London. Ten minute walk from Crystal Palace train station, in the sports center in the middle of the historic Crystal Palace Park.

The best thing is the nice clean fresh chlorine smell in the air from the swimming pool, which swamps the stink of fat beardy wargamers quite well. And you can sit down in the specatator area to eat your sandwiches at lunchtime and oggle Humphrey doing the doggy paddle in his speedos! What could be more fun?

And if you are bored and want to check out the local area: Victorian ruined Crystal Palace to the north, Dinosaurs to the South and right outside the front, in what is now the middle of the running track (there was a motor racing circuit there at the time), this happened: (you can see the Crystal Palace TV transmitter behind Michael Caine's head).

I'll never understand why so many Frothers make such effort to turn up at Salute but don't bother with SELWG.
It's happening again...

See you all at SELWG in a couple of weeks. We are currently casting and packing as much of the Fantasy Warriors range as we possibly can in readiness.

We will also be bringing the Future Skirmish range as well … assuming we haven't sold it all at Blast-Tastic ;-)

Come on over & buy some stuff
