SELWG is a lot like Salute, about one third of the size. Just as easy to get to from most places, but slightly further out of central London. Ten minute walk from Crystal Palace train station, in the sports center in the middle of the historic Crystal Palace Park.
The best thing is the nice clean fresh chlorine smell in the air from the swimming pool, which swamps the stink of fat beardy wargamers quite well. And you can sit down in the specatator area to eat your sandwiches at lunchtime and oggle Humphrey doing the doggy paddle in his speedos! What could be more fun?
And if you are bored and want to check out the local area: Victorian ruined Crystal Palace to the north, Dinosaurs to the South and right outside the front, in what is now the middle of the running track (there was a motor racing circuit there at the time), this happened: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8g_GeQR8fJo
(you can see the Crystal Palace TV transmitter behind Michael Caine's head).
I'll never understand why so many Frothers make such effort to turn up at Salute but don't bother with SELWG.
