From Fantasy Flight.

Anyone own/played it? Thoughts, ramblings, reviews?

A couple of friends if mine own it and love it. I've only played it onve but I really enjoyed it. Nails the globe trotting, investigative nature of Lovecraft/pulp stuff. Characters go mad, get their hearts cut out by cultists, go searching for forbidden artefacts etc. Lots of emergent gameplay. The Mountains of Madness expansion is very good too apparently.

Highly recommended if you are a board game fan, or Cthulhu fan. Plays solo as well!

Ta. That's good to know, because I've ordered it...

Used to play Call of Cthulhu regularly back in the day. Best RPG ever.

Chaosium's foray into a Lovecraftian boardgame (Arkham Horror first edition) wasn't that inspiring though.

Arkham Horror is a bit of a bloated mess. Eldritch is far, far better.

Mansions of Madness is another good Cthulhu boardgame. More of a dungeon crawl type game. Some nifty puzzle bits.

I'm pretty sure that it is basically the same game with some of the mechanics tightened up to improve game flow :)

Oi! Start yer own fucking thread.

Eldritch Horror is supposed to be a sort of Arkham Horror lite, all the good bits left in with most of the clutter that slowed AH down gone. Chasing around the globe trying to prevent the Apocalypse of the Great Old Ones seems a bit like those old CoC campaigns we used to play. I'll let you know...
