Started reading a collection of his short stories (I'd read a few articles that said his writing was a big influence on True Detective)
I'm really enjoying it.
They are described as horror in the style of Hp Lovecraft but I don't think that's right
To me they are like vivid dreams, everything slightly off kilter.
Some utterly fantastic paragraphs, really clever wordplay.
I don't think I've jumped back and re-read sections of a book so much ever, just to enjoy reading
what he has written.
All of the stories are pretty short so you can read them in one go. Worth a go if you like slightly mad stuff

Always on the lookout for something good to read.
What's the name of the anthology you're reading?
You say dream like - so what, are they more like magic realism or just horror?

That one.
More disturbing/horrific than magic
Edit: Although I think that sort of sells short the odd little worlds he creates

Agree on the "More disturbing/horrific than magic" description.
All the deterministic, nihilist, antinatalism that Matthew McConaughey came out with in True Detective is taken from Ligotti's non-fiction The Conspiracy Against the Human Race.
Laird Barron's stuff is also worth a read.

+1 for Laird Barron, some really good writing in his stuff.
...I've heard things about people from other people about certain people to back that up (c) Andrew May
