Depressingly bad.

Yarp, read/skimmed a lot further. Very poor, as Vic and Bob would say.

I always pictured Logen as looking something like the actor that played Hagrid in Harry Potter, but more psychotic. Older, and bulky, fast if necessary, but still sort of shambling. Not young and wiry. :?

The art isn't really doing much for me. I don't really like the imagining of Logen so far, even though I'm only about 5 pages in.

Academically, Its cool to see the project serialized though I guess. I'm glad someone is doing it.
I just would have liked to have seen it more like Gareth Hinds' Beowulf in style. --edit, or maybe even Frank Miller's 300, come to think of it.

Surely they are trolling and that is really Jezal ...

Reading Red Country now. It's decent. Abercrombie is still moralizing about the futility of heroism. I was hoping he got that out of his system in The Heroes. The Celt/Native American mashup of his Ghosts doesn't work for me either. I'm still recommending the series to friends and family.

Hetz* lent me 'The Blade Itself' and I haven't enjoyed a fantasy novel so much in years, in fact I'd mostly given up on them. Familiar tropes but done well and a nice sprinkling of humour.

The bad thing is that as I finished the book, I decided to give this iBooks thing a go. Did you know you can just download books at the touch of a button and start reading them immediately? Damn clever this new technology. Now starting 'Last Argument of Kings' - my painting time is fucked and my bank balance may be going the same way.
