They look like war hammers or picks? The text seems to indicate carbine and melee pistols? :?

That'll be the ones armed with carbines among the war hammers/picks (added for variety, I assume. I count 4 war hammers/picks in a unit of 12) then, you blind twat? :)

I just wondered what they were, and was expecting from the description to see some holding pistols, not war hammers/picks.
They're nicely done anyway.

People really go to town with the bases these days, don't they? Grass Tufts, flowers and rocks on 15mm troops...bloody show offs.

Can't be bothered to read all of the above, but in reply to the OP (Original Poster) I'm currently struggling to paint the various factions of the Spanish/American/Philippino/Cuban/Puerto Rican war of 1898 - ????. Figures in 15mm from a very nice bloke at TSS/QRF. (TY Geoff). Have the Osprey and used google skills, any ideas on the shade of humbrol paint to use?

In the interim I'm going with the option that nobody really knows what in hell the uniforms were and so I'm going with historically accurate pink and French blue. (I have to use the paint up somehow).

Does anyone know of a website on miniatures where there might be a Philippino / USA connection?*

Arnald.

Never tried that - it may improve my results

Also may kill me given the tablets I'm currently taking.

Well... it was only base-coats :D ... and yes, fair enough, they did need a little bit of a tidy up, the day after but at least I put some paint on 'em :D .

They have been fully basecoated and washed now... they need highlights and basing now :) :

First two finished :) :

This is the first time I have ever used crackle paint and I think it looks OK. I need to get it a bit thicker on the base to get more of a crackle effect but, as I go along, I'll get the levels worked out :) .

I like it.

Going to have to try out that crackle paint on bases too.

What am I working on?

Since I relocated to a new place, I've been doing very little painting the past year, outside of some RPG token items like treasure piles. Trying to change that, so currently working on a Beastman Platoon from Victoria Miniatures for some future 40K-RT.
It is. And it is not. When it is, and when it is not, is the question or the answer, or both or neither.
