Thor ; Ragnarok

Postby Sane Max nli » Thu Nov 02, 2017 10:06 am

I went to see Thor ; Ragnarok last night with the youngest.

I am not the biggest fan of Marvel movies. I was not much of a comic book reader as a kid, and I lose interest in the doings of angsty Lycra-clad teens and their stupid problems fairly speedily. But I enjoyed the first Thor (overblown but enjoyable) and didn’t mind the second one either, so when she asked me to take her I was very much ‘Yeah! OK!) rather than ‘Ohhhhhh go on then.’

I am glad I did. It’s fucking great. It’s funny, exciting, well acted, plotted and paced and very funny. The ‘Funny’ in that Guardians of the Galaxy thing was so stagily ‘cool’ it made my teeth hurt, and the one with the guy who can’t die where he has sex and stuff and is rude was a bit ‘back of the class’, but the humour in this one was of a much better standard.

It will also do wonders for sales of Led Zep.

Got to agree with all of that. Haven’t heard an entire cinema giggle as one for donkeys years and loved the response to the best line in Avengers Assemble.

Chris Hemsworth does an excellent job in the Thor series, quite where it goes from here I’ve no idea but I will be interested.

I'm glad to hear it's good. I thought Loki kept stealing the spotlight in the other Thor films (although this time I suppose it's the Hulk showing Thor up, who knew Thor's natural role seems to be in buddy comedies? Then again I guess that's not all that far removed from the role he plays in some of the myths)
