going to see it this week, startled by the reviews so far, trying not to get my hopes up.

Just saw it tonight, in fact I just got home. It was a double bill of the original followed by 2049. I loved it. Visually it is absolutely stunning.

Oh my word. what a good film.

Intelligent without being up it's own arse, 'look how clever I am' in the way Nolan often is for example, enough brief nods toward the original without being annoying in that 'Oooh look over there it's the Millenium Falcon' way.

The scene with Rachel was astounding, what a world we live in that we can do that nowadays. Gosling acts his socks off, not a fan of the Gosling, but he deserves an Oscar for this one.

Any downsides? well, maybe Harrison Ford phoned it in a bit, but he has never been Olivier, has he?

Just a very good film.

It really is. I've not found myself thinking about a film quite so much just after I've seen it.

I think I want to go and see it again this weekend.

Just discovered this thread. Saw it immediately after it was released. Knew it would drop like a rock. It's not that it's slow and lengthly. It's that you have no idea where it's going 'cause it doesn't. In the original, you knew Decker was going to have to show down with Roy and he was going to have to make a decision about Rachel. Here, K, a new generation, neutered replicant and bladerunner, stumbles onto a secret that both the Police and Corporation are extremely interested in. And therefore they both spend 2 hours helping him along until the finale where, uh, the Police concerns are not resolved, the Corporation is still around, and K's fate is so ambiguous my son and I disagreed about it. What a waste of time.

'Drop like a rock' means what exactly? Serious question. It's not making 'Star Wars' money, but it's not 'Star Wars' is it? It's doing a hella lot better than the original did I looked round the (pretty full) cinema I was in anw wondered how many of the people watching it saw the first one in the cinema? I am guessing 2 - me and my wife.

hey, I am not saying he is wrong. Each to their own, and just because most people disagree doesn't make him wrong as such. I am sure his local 'Didn't like Blade Runner 2049' club have a meeting in a 'phone box near him.
