They are rebooting WHAAAAAT?

Postby Clayface » Mon Feb 16, 2015 5:42 pm

Now we all know that reboots are the lifeblood of the self-sucking Hollywood system, along with Crappy Marvel Films and cheap FX shite.

But since I no longer go to the flicks much, if Hollywood want to cannibalise themselves it's usually no skin off my chin.

But everyone has limits and they have just crossed my internal white line, and I hereby declare war.

Reboot 'Spiderman' as often as you want. Do 'Star Wars' sequels till you go blind, I don't care what 'Fury Road' turns out like (unless it's good, which will be nice)

But. 'The Magnificent fucking 7'? Are you fucking insane? Do I dig up your dead childhood pets and rape and then crucify the corpses? Fuck off Hollywood, and Denzel? you should be ashamed.

Now, a classic movie they COULD reboot is '7 Samurai'.. It's a great film, but it's also a long, slow, Japanese, Black and white film with subtitles. Remake that instead, with more blood and action blood and an editor and I will support you all the way. But fucking leave 'the Magnificent 7' alone, hear me?

Fuck yeah, that would be brilliant, they could do it as a Western or something, maybe set it in Mexico with gunslingers instead of Samurai. 8)

They did reboot it. In space. With giant robots.

Look on the bright side, at least they aren't doing it as a western. I understand it's set in Iran, the seven are military contractors and the bandit chief is called Mohammed.

Wasn't Battle Beyond The Stars meant to be a sci-fi remake of The Magnificent 7?

I class Mag7 as a 'inspired by' rather than a reboot - it's different named characters in a different country using guns and speaking english. The Reboot they are planning is indeed a western. Fuck that.

BBtS I do not class as a 'remake', or a 'reboot', or a 're-imagining' - for the simple reason that my mind refuses to class it as a film at all. It's a disease, that infected some virgin film-stock and left traces of the illness all over the celluloid. They then accidentally showed it by mistake after someone said 'This needs an enema' and a newbie staffer thought they said 'cinema'
