Bigger avatars please?

Currently the maximum size for Avatars is 30x30pixels and 1kb. One kilobyte? Okay that might be a strain on a Sinclair ZX81 but surely increasing the size to 3kb won't break the website?

I suggested this last year:

viewtopic.php?f=18&t=44252

I'm still waiting, but I don't think that bus is going to turn up

I've been asking for one pixel avatars and one letter names so it's easier to ignore you lot!

On a more serious point why?

How does a picture at the side of the discussion add anything to the content?

A lot of images you seen are stolen from the net anyway (not all I know) so all you are doing is increasing the option for copyright infringement.

When you quote a person the name shows - not the picture.

The pictures do not normally reflect the person (I hope) and most people are not happy using their real name so I'm lost here. OK I am an old fuddy duddy in that I use my own name but I was around the net before most of you paid taxes (hows that for a mixed metaphor?)
