Sounds just as silly as splitting the most popular and successful forum up whilst leaving several hardly used forums to clog up the place.

Like I said, the points I raise were actuslly made by others on frothers not by me originally.

Since I started the thread, here are a few concrete suggestions:

Merge TV Zone & Movie Zone into Film Zone, as there's bound to be a lot of overlap and it would be nice to have all the trailers and such in one place.
Merge Comics Emporium into Frother Book Club.
Combine Role-Players Inn, CCG Surgery and Boardgamers' Galley into Other Games.

Why?

Less forums means less clicking around and a better chance of spotting something interesting. None of the forums mentioned above are super active, so I doubt the merge would lead to interesting posts getting buried. More importantly, I don't see any gain from having a lot of subforums.

Now that I am back from being on a shift where I had to physically put myself between a fucked up and bloody minded adult member of the public and one of the kids who did nothing to them. I shall now reflect on this a little more.

To clarify - I am suggesting reversing the splitting of the frothzone - which would be turning three sub forums back into one with one 'sticky' thread for sculpting.

Combining the CCG and Boardgames into one forum, combining the TV and Movies into one forum and the same with the comics and books forums. That would be reducing 6 forums into 3. So far that is condensing 9 forums into 4.

I'd agree with what has been said with the marketplace - one for actual traders and one for the rest. Then get people to include in their thread title what sort of thread it is eg: sale, trade, wanted and ebay. If people don't you can either delete or change as you see fit.

That would then be a reduction of 9 forums into 4 with the creation of one additional sub forum. This is based upon the useage of the areas get and things other regular posters have said in the past. Is it that far fetched or crazy?
