Yeah, profiles/avatars on the right is a menace.

For stylish in chrome copy the following into a new style and set the "Applies to" to be "URLs on the domain" = "www.frothersunite.co.uk"

Code: Select all
body
{
  text-shadow: none !important;
}

.content a,
.content a:link,
.content a:visited
{
  color: #da2220 !important;
}

.content a:hover,
.content a:active
{
  text-decoration: underline;
}

.post
{
  margin-left: 2em;
  margin-right: 2em;
}

.post .postbody
{
  float: right;
  width: 82%
}

.post .postprofile
{
  float: left;
  width: 16%;
  border-left: none;
  border-right: 1px solid #ddd;
  padding: 0 .5em;
}

For stylish in firefox, copy the preceding into a new style and then wrap it like so:

Code: Select all
@-moz-document domain('images.example.com')
{
  <PRECEDINGSTUFF>
}

ok, how does one do this, change the style in Chrome?

There's this add-on thingy called stylish for chrome: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/deta ... cffe?hl=en
and for firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/
Haven't tried it yet though.

Just tried it. Need a couple more instances of !important in there (which I've added to the above). Colours are still shit though.

In Firefox and IE you can use User stylesheets without Stylish as well.

Thanks! It's a start. At least now the avatars are on the left where they need to be, and the text shadow is gone. Now to fix the color. :loopy:

I always did prefer the old Frother's layout over any other forums.

Edit: Get rid of the edit button!! We should have to stand by what we say the first time, and I shouldn't be able to go into my post to edit it to say "get rid of the edit button!!" :wink:

I've played a bit with the colours and changed the font to Verdana which makes it more readable again.
Code: Select all
  body, #page-body
    {
      text-shadow: none !important;
      background-color: #ffffff !important;
    }

    .content a,
    .content a:link,
    .content a:visited
    {
      color: #da2220 !important;
    }

    .content a:hover,
    .content a:active
    {
      text-decoration: underline;
    }

    .post
    {
      margin-left: 2em;
      margin-right: 2em;
    }
    .post .inner
    {
     background-color: #E8E9EB !important;
    }
    .post .postbody
    {
      float: right !important;
      width: 82%  !important;

    }

    .post .postbody .content
    {
      font-size: 10pt !important;
      font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif !important;
    }

.post .postprofile
    {
      float: left !important;
      width: 16%  !important;
      border-left: none;
      border-right: 1px solid #ddd;
      padding: 0 .5em;
    }

Various factors have conspired against me so I find I have little option but to use the above Stylish mod myself.

I was perfectly happy in Firefox 12.0 until I realised that the bugger couldn't take posts over a couple of paragraphs before resetting and timing out with the new forum software.

My Chrome was the latest version but alas chose to render what looked fine in my Firefox as a sort of badly photocopied effort.

So I've used the mod and whilst the index page still looks like I've popped down the newsagents and got a 5p copy of it, everything else is spanky and clear.

The only thing I dislike is that Stylish get access to your browsing history.
As a saintly and pious individual, I have nothing to hide but some degenerates amongst you may (if they don't already) chose to have a separate browser for viewing 'art reference'.

I've made the fonts on the index page bigger - need to adjust the colours though. (Just noticed you can go direct to sub boards from main list which is good).
Code: Select all
body, #page-body
    {
      text-shadow: none !important;
      background-color: #ffffff !important;
    }

    .content a,
    .content a:link,
    .content a:visited
    {
      color: #da2220 !important;
    }

    .content a:hover,
    .content a:active
    {
      text-decoration: underline;
    }

    .post
    {
      margin-left: 2em;
      margin-right: 2em;
    }
    .post .inner
    {
     background-color: #E8E9EB !important;
    }
    .post .postbody
    {
      float: right !important;
      width: 82%  !important;

    }

    .post .postbody .content
    {
      font-size: 10pt !important;
      font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif !important;
    }

.post .postprofile
    {
      float: left !important;
      width: 16%  !important;
      border-left: none;
      border-right: 1px solid #ddd;
      padding: 0 .5em;
    }

    .icon dt
    {
      font-size: 9pt !important;
      font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif !important;
    }
    .forumtitle {
        font-weight:bold !important;
    }
