Ahh, a simple slip of the tongue, followed by another simple slip of the tongue. Nothing to get worked up about - and anyway, how many voters know when wwi was or wwii, or which was which?
I am starting to firmly believe he will win re-election. I cannot see 2020 going down in the history books as a 'Good Year' so really do think Donald Trump will be re-elected, and with no shenanigans.
Ah, ye of little faith. That would be a relatively positive result.
What happens — as seems probable — if we get a hung election with massive accusations of vote fraud on both sides? What happens if Trump just refuses to leave power if it’s a close call but there are still accusations of vote fraud? Hell, what happens if he loses and then the Republicans spend the next four years just eviscerating Biden?
A Trump victory would be bad for democracy in the U.S. and the world, but it would probably be more of the same: an essentially lame duck presidency with lots of showy stuff for the deplorables while the U.S. economy and world power sinks beyond repair. Shit for us out here in places like Brazil and the Phillipines. Maybe the last nail in democracy’s coffin. But I can CERTAINLY think of worse scenarios that a Trump victory.
For this year to be “good”, Biden needs to win, win big, and the inevitable shitshow of Trump trying to sabotage the ship of state as he leaves it needs to somehow be avoided. I rate all of that very low probability and it would make 2020 much worse — although 2021, cautiously, better.
