Then of course there were the regular round-ups of kids on the street. Invariably timed around elections or when there was a bit of media attention. Big swoop, lights and sirens, collect up all the kids, lock them up for half a day and then release them. Of course that's preferable to another riot or sending them to prison. Actually, I've often thought that would be a wonderful solution to kiddies playing tuneless versions of Christmas carols on recorders or those twats who paint themselves silver and do the human statue thing.
