Oh and as we and the other Allied Nations refused to recognise the East German Govt and Police, they weren't able to arrest us. Worse they could do is block us in and then we waited for the RMP to come looking for us or a Russian Officer to turn up. Always had food, drink, sleeping bag and something available to piss/dump in in the car. Never had to use it though, they used to give up when they saw the "Allied Forces" pack we would put in the car window.

Was fun down the Corridor which had a strict speed limit that was enforced by fines in West German Marks. Couple of times we helped West berliners evade the VoPo pursuit cars by running our cars along side each other on the 2 lane road while Fritz opened his Merc up and ran to the Checkpoint. Last time we did that we had a crate of beer waiting for us when we checked in with the RMP at Helmstadt. The plods of course, were intersted into why a Berliner would have left us a crate.

I remember stories about west german bank-robbers driving over in their audi getaway cars while the former east german police still had trabbies.....

There are a few anomolies but generally quite well done. The STASI IT Depts problems with the floppy disk was funny.

For the real nitpickers, The East Germans couldn't watch West German TV. Not so much because it was forbidden, but they used SECAM for their TV not PAL like the West. US is NSTC so i had picked up a multi system TV so could watch all 3 nations and of course SSVC's efforts at forces TV until we got Sky in 1990. Eastie TV used to be good for their May day parades,Sat night soft porn and Sunday Trabant racing, where they closed off roads in the countryside and had a go at rallying at speeds in excess of 55 miles an hour :)

It's very good, but they do seem to gloss over a lot of difficulties.

I mean, I am from Newcastle originally and live in Leeds. If I was pretending to be from Manchester there would be all the 'Ohh you have a funny accent' never mind the 'Oh, I am from Manchester too, where did you go to school/oh so did I/ etc etc.
