I've played this now. Here's a summary:
You basically build a railway from a point on the coast out into the interior picking up resources and use those resources to pay for track, build farms to generate more resources and build military units. It's a race against time to find hidden monsters of varying strength scattered randomly over the map under chits before time's up and they activate and swarm. As time passes monster chits are flipped, they (and monsters revealed by players flipping monster chits and finding monsters they can't kill) most likely will wander randomly until they hit a train track and then follow it to the coast destroying farms along the way until they munch that persons capital and try to destroy it, which triggers the end of the game.
It's a fun game with a sort of scenario I'd wanted to wargame with figures for a while, and I'd hoped to use the game as a campaign generator but I think it would take too much work, if it's even possible, so I thought I'd ask the Frothers brain trust.
Does anyone have any ideas about a game or campaign system that could cover this sort of scenario? I'm thinking one player with a hidden base or bases and the other having to probe and search to find and destroy it without overextending himself before the hidden player is ready and can take the fight to him?
I want to have it as a hidden alien beachhead but I imagine the scenario might have come up for historical games and any advice you might have would be appreciated.
