My dear old Mad Mum bought me enormous numbers of books. She never read them or knew what was in them, if it was in the SF section or looked a bit futurey she got me it. To this I owe the dubious pleasures of getting 'The Fog' when I was about 8. (Also my brother's Hot girlfriend got me 'Planet Story' when I was 11. Lord, that fuelled a few fevered dreams involving her and a Nuclear Steam Train, I can tell you).

Mum bought me a Gor Book for my birthday and Christmas every year, I had a dozen of them. When you are a kid they are ace. I found one in a second hand shop recently* and god, it's awful stuff.

* things I almost never see in second hand shops - Sven Hassel, Conan, Gor, Ann Rice's pervy stuff under a pseudonym, the early James Herbert with the obligatory sex-scenes - I suspect the sort of people that buy these sort of books keep and treasure them for ever..... Brrrrr  .

I read a few Gor books, enjoyed a couple of them and then like someone flicking a switch realised how crap they were. I've always wanted to see the Gor film they made

You complete fucker
I'd managed to erase that fucking book from my memory, but now there it is
What a pile of shite.
I couldn't believe how poor it was even when I was a teenager

And Max, we already agreed that Salems Lot is the best King book not the Stand

Where do the 'Didn't Like The Original Star Wars' club hold their Meetings now Phone Boxes are scarce?

I thought so.
A 'TFA' is a recently released, fairly popular sequel to a trilogy of movies from the 70s and 80s.
It has had some negative reactions from forum members here who seem to have forgotten that the kid inside them who likes to play toy soldiers is the same kid who would have loved this film, faults and all.

shit, it's got an acronym already?

Based on what Frothers said, it was a good film with some weak points. Hardly a critical mauling.

You have read the above thread and want to 'give it a shot out of curiosity?'

It's just possible my sweaty bell-end tastes like Cadbury's Chocolate. why not give it a suck, just out of curiosity?

Do you have a Sinclair C5 and a couple of cases of New Coke parked in your garage, or does the Edsel take up all the space?

I like to make my own mind up. Should only take 10 minutes or so, Ike Beowulf (shit), Last Kingdom (shit), Helix (shit) etc.
If I took notice of Frother's opinions I wouldn't have seen TFA, which is great fun, you miserable cunt.

Just spotted this, and care for my reputation makes me point out that no, I certainly did not. I realised half-way through the second one that 'Dune' had been a fluke, and skimmed the third. nothing since then.

I bet YOU have read ll the Game of Thrones or whatever they are called, and are unable to sleep wondering if Grumpy or Tasha Yar* feature in the next one.

I may have got their names wrong. the little fella and the agressive mannish bird. them. I like tits as much as the next man, but cannot stay awake through an episode. I tried reading the first book, but there are no tits?
