That's castle building, but the same equipment/techniques to lift rocks up to towers, would be used to lift rocks up from holes, yes?

Vampire Lovers period...

You are a sick bastard. FYI most vampires are too picky to even look at a nose-bleed.

What would be around the head, or adit, would depend on what was being mined - smelting pits, settling ponds etc.

Think they are from de Re Metallica by Georg Bauer (aka Agricola)(not the fourth one 8) ) from similar period to Durer;

Loads of illustrations of mining and general metallurgy in it - more piccies here:

Found these ages ago, not medieval but inspiring (There was a full guide on how he built it as well, I don't know what the link is)
I included a picture of a couple of great peaks to help you concentrate

A Mine Of Information

Post by An Absent Humphrey » Tue Jan 05, 2016 2:05 pm

Chaps.
I'm looking for some inspirational illustrations of a medieval mine.
Specifically, the mine head. Not a military mine, but a coal/iron/ore etc one.
I'm looking for something to get my creative juices flowing so I can model one.
I have done a Google image search, but nothing's really getting my minge batter flowing, so I wondered if any of you had seen good illustrations of these things - whether historical, reconstruction, or maybe fantasy. I don't care. I just want to get a feel for what one should look like and to inspire me.
Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaars, all.
