Note the wording of the “emoluments clause:
“No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince, or foreign State.”
Article 1, Section 8, clause 9.
Trump would have been reimbursed by the Federal Government. NOT France or Germany. And if they did pay for it, it would not be a “present or emolument”. Particularly if he did not make a profit.
As far as I can see, he thought he was offering first class secure accommodations, at cost. If he were the type to listen to advice, he would have never made the offer. But he isn’t the type. :D Obviously.

But, you don’t like him. For you, that’s all that matters.

As an aside, I’ve often why Eisenhower or Bradley could accept knighthoods from Great Britain. Obviously, Congreff Affembled said, “Sure. Go ahead.”

He was going to do it at cost. No profit.

When the President is an asshole, that is the fault of those who voted him in.
Being an asshole is not an impeachable offense. That is why we have elections every 4 years.
Hizzoner Da Mayor of New Yawk Ed Koch said when defeated by Bella Abzug, “The People have spoken. Now they must be punished.”

My line in the sand is violating the Constitution.
“Bribery, treason, or high crimes and misdemeanors” is another line. Being an asshole is none of those.
Prove any of those and I will be in the peasant mob with a torch.

I admit I voted for an asshole. I knew that. But his opponent was arguably guilty of bribery and treason. :D

“Rebellion? I think not.”
As Bronze Yon Royce said to Petyr Baelish.
“Arya?”

This can't be good.

It shows how much respect he has for the Constitution.
That’s scary.
How will he handle being impeached and removed?
Luckily the military has just as much respect for him. “Rebellion? I think not.”

I could handle “It doesn’t apply here, because Federalist 17....”
But I DO NOT LIKE just dismissing it, because he doesn’t like it.
That’s what the “living document” people claim.

In an “ordinary” presidency, that’s irrelevant this far ahead of the next election.
However, this is far from ordinary. :D
What it does is stiffen the spine of wobbly congress critters.
Or, it may loosen it.
It means that they may, or may not, have the courage to follow their consciences in re Trump.
Politicians being spineless weasels who think the office is theirs by the Grace of God, are terrified of numbers like that. They don’t know what to do! The People may get upset and hold them to account!
