Wonder who really did it?

Williamson (unmitigated arse though he is) still swears blind neither he nor any of his civil servants or staff did it (which is a far more ringing endorsement than most Tory Ministers are prepared to give anyone).

Meawhile May has never said she actually had any evidence he did it.'compelling evidence suggesting he did it' - what, he was in the room and admits talking to the Telegraph?

I know this usually means 'guilty as fuck' (I knew a senior RUC Special Branch officer who paid for much of his son's schooling thanks to conversations with Toby Harnden while the latter was at the Telegraph) but Williamson seems to have been pretty open about this - that may be evidence of stupidity rather than innocence of course.

But given the people around the table who have severe doubts about St T's desperation to keep the Chinese on board for the aftermath of a no deal Brexit, I suspect Williamson was simply the least popular boy in the class (that'll teach him to keep a Tarantula as a pet, bloody oik!).

Case closed - no prosecution required.
How very ... British.

If he did just "shut up and go away" it could be looked on as an admission of guilt in any police investigation.

The noise that "shut up and go away" is making would suggest he might have been thrown under the bus to save somebody else. If he is the leak, he really should just merge quietly into the background

There may be trouble ahead...

Poor Gavin - it was all going so well when he had Cronus in the office to advise him. :(

The PM told me: "Frankly you should go away and shut up"

Will Williamson be prosecuted under the Official Secrets Act?
Or will it be quietly forgotten?

Oh dear Gavin, you got caught.

Though to be honest this will help him in the long run, there’ll be a lot of support for him.

Whether Mr/Ms X is a moron is up for debate (personally I think they are spot on in thinking we hand China the key to our internet of things if we do this) but the smart money might be swinging to the GCHQ guy as the US is now saying - its Huawei and the the Highway to info sharing. Given NSA and GCHQ are more or less one organisation, far more than can be said of the CIA/SIS, FBI/SS, the breakup of the UKUSA agreement would be fucking disaster.

I know they have suggested Huawei's threat could be 'managed' but that frankly is bollocks (and they used to say so when they were less 'corporate' and more honest).

Of course there are several willing fools in the cabinet who could easily be relied on to take the fall for this one. So perhaps Q did it but Mr Minister will be the one the phone records point to.
